September 15, 2001 This was taken just four days after the collapse of the towers of the World Trade center in New York. I find a great deal of peace being here on this little cut in the sandstone rocks at Cape Sebastian. There is a little ledge here where, at least on this day, no spray from the low waves hit, yet I was just feet above the swirl of the mighty Pacific. There is so much incredible motion here, the sea, the air, even the earth seems to swell and sway. The mists beyond Hunter's Island in the background faded in and out, sometimes allowing views of the rocky islands many miles south, sometimes barely letting me see Hunter's Island. May you find peace in these troubled times, may the whole world find peace. |
