| The stump is not actually on our mile.
It is in Hunter's Cove, which is part of mile 24, but we have to walk this
stretch to get to the base of Cape Sebastian--so we see it all the time.
Roger Hart has done a great deal of work with the stumps of ancient forest
that were exposed south of Neskowin and has found other ancient remnants
as well. We don't really know if this is such a stump--but we think
it is possible. Perhaps Roger will be able to check this out and
advise us yes or no. In any case, this is a really cool stump.
It sits by itself a little ways north of the 101 wayside at Hunter's Cove
where we stop as part of our watch on Cape Sebastian, just to the south
of the small drainage that comes onto the beach from under 101. |
